Leaving Ft. Myers and off to Marathon Key

Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011 ready to leave Ft. Myers. All of our friends from "C" dock were lining the pier to say goodbye. What a beautiful morning. By 8:00 am, it was 80 degrees and sunny.
Our Time pulling out of Legacy Marina
Sue and Jack leaving Leagacy.
The Gulf of Mexico waters were beautiful. Dolphins played along the way. We were on our way to Marco Island.
Entering the canals at Marco. We stayed at a beautiful nmarina, Espanade. It had the feeling of a Spanish
City. We spent 3 days in Marco exploring the city.
On Sunday, we left Marco and were on our way to the Little Shark River to anchor. The Gulf is very shallow and we traveled 3 miles out before we could turn South. Along the way, we are out of sight of land. By 5:00, we entered the Little Shark River. No houses, only trees and 3 other boats anchored. The river was full of wildlife and beautiful birds. I have never seen a more fantastic nite sky, full moon and an amazing display of stars. In the morning Tom and I each saw an alligator in the river along with Dolphins.

Now we are on our way to Marathon. Calm seas and beautiful skies.
We were so excited when we spotted the bouys guiding us to the 7 mile bridge. When we went under the bridge, we would be heading to the Atlantic waters.
Traveling in the mooring fields at
Boot Key Harbor. Our marina is also in Boot Key Harbor. When we arrived, we were invited to a Presidents' Day party.
Our first drink in Marathon under the Chickee Hut.
